Avi Buffalo - Self titled

Year: 2010
Label: Sub Pop

This band is awesome. Really really solid. Listening lots. Quirky vocals and lovely indie sounding music. Not a start to finish banger for me but it'll do, and I'm sure lots will love Avi Buffalo. Geez I'm not talking very much today... You can catch them August third in Toronto at the Opera House with Blitzen Trapper! What? Did I seriously just say that? Fuck me thats rad. Can't wait! Big Indie Things!

The Hold Steady - Heaven is Whenever

This is just a great rockish album. Reminds me of Hot Water Music a little bit. I don't have much to say about this one other than I'm listening to it lots. Maybe you guys will like to do the same? They are playing in Toronto July 16th at the Kool Haus ha ha I hate that name...

The Octagon - Warm Love and Cool Dreams Forever

Year: 2010
Label: Serious Business Records

Hi everyone, I'm really sorry for slacking. Actually, it's just that music's hit a bit of a "slump" with me for the last little while. I have been trying, don't get me wrong, I just haven't really dug all that much new stuff lately. So here's an attempt to return... The Octagon are a New York based band that are super indie, and super gritty. No bells and whistles, and it's very reminiscent of early East Coast Canada indie rock like The Suddens, Mad Hat, Superfriendz, etc... stuff like that. So enjoy it please and I'll keep trying for some more.

I may go back through my little archive over the last year and put up stuff that I never posted. Or do you only want new stuff? Let me know and if not, go fuck yourselves ha ha. Keep it right raw.

FAKTORY PRESENTS - EMALKAY

February 11th is going to be an epic night in Toronto thanks to the Faktory. Emalkay's debut appearance in Toronto is going to be unreal! Get your game face on for this one its gonna be rough as fuck! Emalkay's new material is super heavy, and well, you just don't wanna miss out on this. In my opinion, Caspa and the Dub Police crew are gonna be representing dubstep in a big way this year, so watch out! Oh, and I believe the sound at this one will be courtesy of the 40hz crew so even more reason not to miss out...

And don't forget about the local talent folks, Zeds Dead and Spyne are bound to please, and Fluke will no doubt close the night with a fucking walloping set. IT'S GONNA BE HUGE!

BIG UP THE FAKTORY ON THIS ONE!!!!!

One more thing, for those of you that have been sleeping, I'm re-posting links to Fluke's last three mixes below. Get em cause thier still fuckin hot!

Colonies - Thirty Thousand

Year: 2009
Label: ????? it's indie, friends.

Ok so this band is so so amazing, I believe out of Seattle. They are just so perfect if your into straight up no fucking around indie rock. The drummers awesome, lots of crashing cymbals and stuff here. They really rock out and I love this album. Think along the lines of Japandroids here. OMG (ha ha) I love music and hate abbreviations. So here's some reviews about Colonies (taken from their myspace page)...

"Colonies is probably the best indie rock band that you haven’t heard of. Yet."
---Redefine Magazine

"...Colonies combines intelligence and ambience. Gentle keys and samples flavor heavy, bombastic percussion courtesy of Centoni, while Shumate's ethereal vocals float above the band's instrumentals. Crystal-clear guitar work cuts through the haunting, atmospheric quality of Colonies' songs, and the band somehow remains sonically captivating even in tense moments of quiet noise."
---The News Tribune

"...music that constantly recalls the moments after a summer storm. The rapid-fire cymbal action of drummer Adrian Centoni is a perfect counterbalance to the weary vocals coming from Travis Shumate. Their newest album, Sleep Patterns, is another chance to bolster your musical IQ."
---Rich and Blake Recommend

So there you go! Don't sleep on this one and for fucks sakes leave a comment, will ya? Take the time to come back and talk to me... I'm lonely.
